God has got your back!
2 Thessalonians 3:3 – “But the Lord is faithful. He will establish you and guard you against the evil one.”
Last week I was walking outside with my children and we saw a duck with her ducklings. When we approached her, the mother duck started to make a lot of noise and started beating with her wings. One of my children asked why the mother duck started doing this and I explained to her that the mother duck was protecting her children for the – in her eyes – apparent danger. During the day this picture of the mother duck kept going trough my mind and it made me think about how I am tyring to protect my loved ones. How I am trying to keep pain and fear away from the people that I love. And how difficult it is to protect everyone in my own strength.
The last year has been very unpredictable and can have instilled fear in some of us. Fear for (losing) your job, your health, your home situation and your loved ones. Some may have had a clear experience that there have been spiritual attacks on them. Know that God is faithful and protects you! Trust Him with your fears and pain and trust Him that He will protect your loved ones. Don’t try this in your own strength, because this will cost too much energy and will never succeed, but give it to Him. Ask God for his protection against all evil and that we may shelter under His wings, just like the mother duck protected her ducklings by letting them shelter under her wings.
Prayer based on Psalm 91 – Under Your wings I’ll find refuge and a stronghold.
In the shadow of Your wings I want to shelter, o Lord. I call to You God. I can take shelter with You, You protect me and my loved ones. You are my refuge and with You I am safe and secure. You are my God and I only trust in You. Protect me and my loved ones under Your wings. Your faithfulness is our shield and buckler and protects us from attacks of the enemy. We do not have to be afraid of any disease that prowls and You will rescue us. You are the Almighty, our protector. Let Your angels protect my loved ones and defend them, in all their ways. In the shadow of Your wings we can take refuge, o Lord. Amen.
